What qualifications do you have?
Don, who owns and operates Northside Property Inspections, has over 35 years experience in the building industry and holds a current Builder's Licence. Don also held a Building Consultant's Licence, which was a requirement to carry out pre-purchase building inspections prior the industry being deregulated and the licence abolished in 2009 (another reason to choose your building inspector wisely).
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we have Professional Indemnity Insurance for your peace of mind.  We would also like to add that we have never had a claim made against us in all the years we have been in business, which is a testament to the quality of care we take when carrying out inspections for our clients.
Aren't all inspection companies the same?
No, we're not all the same.  Northside Property Inspections provides a quality of service that is hard to beat.  We spend more time on your inspection and report than most other inspection businesses would. We will also spend further time with you on the phone should you wish to discuss the report.  We firmly believe that our experience, knowledge and professional service is something you just can't put a price on, but comes free with every pre-purchase inspection.
Why do I need a pre-purchase building inspection?
Not only will a pre-purchase inspection protect you from the unkown, it may also help you negotiate a better deal once you are armed with the knowledge of any issues that the property may have.
Do relatively new homes need a pre-purchase building inspection?
Definitely, just because a home is relatively new, it does not mean it was built correctly.  We have found fairly significant defects, even in brand new homes.
How long does it take to do a pre-purchase building inspection?
We never rush our inspections, that is a sure way to overlook something.  Our inspections usually take between 2 - 3 hours (sometimes more) depending on size, age and condition of the property, and that's not including the time it takes to write the report.  We don't leave the property until we feel confident that we have throughly covered all areas.
How long does it take to get my written report?
The report is emailed to you usually within 24 hours after the inspection.
When and how do I pay for the inspection?
Payment is required before we release the report.  You will receive an email with payment details after you make a booking.
You can make payment by:
  • Visa or Mastercard.
  • Direct deposit.
  • Cash payment by prior arrangement.
What are the items you do & don't inspect?

Do you check the plumbing and electrics during your inspection?
No, we are not licensed plumbers or electricians.  However, whilst carrying out a pre-purchase inspection we will:
  • do a visual check of the hot water service and can advise on potential drainage problems.
  • advise you if the wiring looks old or defective.
  • advise you to seek professional advice if anything was found to be untoward.
